Our country living room completely remodeled! Over 2 years after purchasing our home we have finished our living room 100%. I’m so happy with the results!
Just to let you in on some of the tedious projects we had to do to get this room the way it is, here is a list 🙂 :
1.We ripped down that old paneling only to find TONS of glue on the walls we couldn’t sand off! So we did a full plastering job.
2.We put up the wainscoting and painted it along with all the chair rail trim and trim on top of the baseboard. Of course we had to paint all of it since it was DARK wood.
3.We got lucky with the floors, they were there hiding under the shag carpet. They just needed a good cleaning! They aren’t perfect, but with pets they wouldn’t be for long anyway:)
4.We updated all the electrical wires, lighting, outlets, etc.
5. We added the beams which are actually from pallets! We put molding up around those.
6.We added shutters to the front window. Those shutters were old wooden ones from the outside of the house that we repainted.
The coffee table/book shelf, TV shelf and built in book shelf were all hand built by my husband and I cherish the all so much:)

Give yourself a pat on the back. I think you did a great job. Just curious. Does it look just as pretty at night? Did you do any make-over with your lighting? If you need to, check out http://www.lighting55.com They helped us big time with our first home’s lighting fixtures and we’re so happy with it.
LOVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE!!! Wow!!! We have working on our home for the past 12 years and still not done!!! But your kitchen has inspired me !!!!
I love the coffee table so much!!
Love your work! We recently purchased a 1960s brick home for our son that has character but needs some work. There is a similar wood burning stove that you have and I noticed you painted it white. What type of paint did you use? Also, we are stealing your kitchen counter top idea. Loved it.
Hi there. The stove was purchased that color. It’s a jotul stove, but the pipe I used High Heat Resistant spray paint in cream color.
