I’d like to take you way back. Back to 2010 when we first purchased our home.
The house was dark, gross, straight out of the 70’s. Think wall to wall shag carpet. Thankfully there were beautiful hardwood floors underneath in the entire home!
We saw the potential.
We ripped up the carpet, updated electrical, painted, took out part of a wall to make a breakfast bar, then took out that whole wall, removing said breakfast bar. (See my Wall Demolition post)
I also want to share what our dining table looked like before my husband refinished the top. See below
The photo below is after we painted the first time, 10 years ago. Wall still intact.
Now fast forward 9 years. The photo below is from 2019. We had removed the wall between the kitchen and dining, added 2 built-ins, a wood stove, etc.
Now for the progress photos! This is how our dining room is currently.
We patched and painted the walls, hung new dining room lighting above the table and painted the wall sconces to give them an updated look.
We bought a bench to match the table and chairs, reupholstered the chairs, refinished the table (as I mentioned), removed outlets in walls (to be moved into baseboard), among other things.
Reason these are “progress” photos is because we still have some finishing touches to complete.
Curtains and hardware
Outlets in baseboard
Crown moulding
Quarter round trim
Eventually replace heaters
New windows (some day)
It’s amazing what some paint can do to a room, but we have also put blood sweat and tears into this remodel over the years. I’m so happy with the progress! More to come soon. I’m ordering the curtains today.
