We have been meaning to remodel this bathroom since we moved into our home almost 7 years ago.
So here we are, our second baby on the way, and our goal is to have it done by the time the little lady is here.
I can’t take any of the credit for the gutting that took place, that was all my husband and he worked incredibly hard considering there was 2 inches of concrete behind the tile on the walls and metal lathe behind the 2 inches of concrete.
Now, to explain this project in as few words as possible. We are remodeling a bathroom, as well as a bedroom that is right down the hall and connecting them by making a walk-through closet to create a master suite!
It is going to be my favorite new area in the house, especially with a newborn. Quiet, new and clean, and practical.
Here is a before and progress picture of the bathroom looking in from the hallway entrance
:
As you can see, it was pretty gross in there! It all needed to go. Plumbing, electrical, flooring, ceiling, everything.
Here is a before and progress picture of the right side of the bathroom:
You can now look into the bedroom from the bathroom. That use to be a small closet. We removed the small closet and will make it into a little bit larger, walk-through closet.
We plan on installing a stand up, corner shower (no tub since we have one upstairs), new vanity, new toilet of course, wood flooring, shiplap walls which will painted a shade of white, new light fixtures, and the list goes on.
Here are a couple pictures of what the messy bedroom and hall look like at the moment:
The picture below is looking from the hall into what will be our bedroom. There use to be a hall closet on the left that I never used, except for collecting clutter. We got rid of the doorway from the hall, re-framed it and will use that space for the future walk-through bedroom closet.
The next picture shows the view from the bedroom into the hallway (left) and into what will be the walk-through closet into the bathroom (right).
The white door in the hall goes to the basement and the doorway with no door that is closer to the bedroom entrance is a small closet that will be Ryan’s bedroom closet. So, to make that his bedroom closet we will be moving the bedroom entrance further into the hallway. I’m sure this is getting a little confusing at this point. I promise, it is all going to make sense when I share some more progress pictures soon!

/// UPDATE as of 7/11/17 ///
We plan on having the hardwood floor installed in the bathroom and closet and refinished in the bedroom starting in a couple of weeks. Also that’s when the bedroom and closet walls will be finished. Then we can get to the lighting, plumbing and fixtures. See photos below. More to come in the next month or so.
